It was pedestrian traffic only on the streets of Town Center for the eighth annual El Dorado Hills Art and Wine Affaire.

More than 150 artists displayed their handmade wares and about 15 El Dorado County wineries turned out for a wine tasting event.

Tammy Ames, of Shingle Springs, enjoyed wine samplings as she strolled through the tented streets of Town Center with some friends.

“This is a great event for families,” a giggling Ames said. “The vendors and artists have great things and … well there is the wine.”

The El Dorado Hills Optimist Club, El Dorado Arts Council and the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce organized the event that included live entertainment throughout the weekend at the Town Center Amphitheater and throughout the festival grounds. Handmade furniture from wine barrels, jewelry, Raku pottery, photographs and artisan glass designs were among the offerings.

“We are just now getting to see the vendors,” said Hillary Janes of Citrus Heights. “We’ve only made one purchase and that was the wine.”

Net proceeds from the event benefit the Arts in Education programs of the El Dorado Arts Council, the Friends of Youth programs of the El Dorado Hills Optimist Club and the El Dorado Hills community outreach programs of the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce.
