Corbett Ralstin and Sherman McVay show the medals they earned at the middle school wrestling Tournament of Champions held over the weekend.

Sherman McVay and Corbett Ralstin, wrestling this year for the El Dorado Hills Wrestling Club, earned medals at the prestigious Tournament of Champions on Saturday.

This middle school tournament is held each year for the select few who qualify for what is the best of the best middle school wrestlers in the area and beyond.

McVay, a Marina Village student, won six of his eight matches and placed fourth, while Ralstin finished in seventh place. McVay lost his first match in the quarter-finals and then won two matches in the consolation bracket before losing the match for third place, 2-0. Ralstin lost his first match, but then won five straight in the consolation bracket, before losing again. He rebounded to win the seventh-place match, 8-2.

Also competing for the club was Josh Ploke, a Rolling Hills middle school wrestler, who was 5-2 and missed placing by one win. Brandon Claiborne 4-2, Joshua Ferry 1-2, and Jordan Undseth 0-2 will all be returning to the club next year and hope to make a splash at next year's tournament of champions.
