Josh Dawson earns back points during his 14-7 win over Adam Blank of River Valley. It would be the final win of his high school career.

Oak Ridge High’s Josh Dawson and Keaton Subjeck also competed in the state wrestling tournament.

Dawson, a senior, won two matches before being eliminated from the tournament. He opened the tournament with a 7-1 loss to Raul UC, a junior from Arroyo Grande High. Once in the consolation bracket, Dawson won two straight matches. First he defeated Bellarmine senior Ethan Ruby, 8-4, and then disposed of River Valley senior Adam Blank, 14-7.

Dawson’s high school wrestling career then came to an end following a 6-4 loss to Shasta senior Terry Mathews.

Subjeck, a freshman, had a tough tournament wrestling against older and more experienced wrestlers. He opened against senior Cody Hancock and lost 8-1. In the consolation bracket, Subjeck lost to another senior Danny Mai, 10-4.
