‘An Enchanted Christmas’ comes to museum
Folsom History Museum displays Dolph Gotelli exhibit
More than 120 people received a dose of Christmas spirit Friday night while attending the opening night of a new exhibit at the Folsom History Museum. Internationally known curator, designer and artist Dolph Gotelli, presented 30 Victorian vignettes titled “An Enchanted Christmas” at the Folsom History Museum during the exhibit’s Opening Night Benefit Gala. “Breathtaking,” said Della Turle, gala guest and Orangevale resident since 1978. The gala was sponsored by WIND Productions, a group of local businesswomen who provide charity events in Folsom. The vignettes displayed Christmas scenes created by the artistic mind of Gotelli who is a collector of Christmas memorabilia. “A lot of this has personable meaning, as a child I would do a lot of fantasy play … I feel that today a lot of us are loosing our fantasy,” Gotelli said. “I like manipulating things and telling a story.” For those walking through the darkened display room and glancing at the bright windows displaying 30 Christmas stories, the spirit of the holidays seem to come alive “I love doing this and really want people to enjoy it,” Gotelli said. The exhibit will run at the Folsom History Museum from Nov. 21 through Feb. 7 in extended hours from Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. General admittance of the exhibit is $4 for adults; $2 for youth and children under 12 are free. All proceeds from the exhibit go directly to the Folsom History Museum. The new art exhibit at the museum was well received by guests and may even keep new museum viewers returning for more. “I have never been to a Folsom History Museum event before, but if this is the high caliber that I can expect in the future, I will attend many more,” said Sylvia Lewis, of Sacramento. New Folsom History Museum Director Mary Mast was also pleased by the event and happy to see such a variety of people attend. “We want to take our museum to the next level, not just historically but also culturally,” said Mast, who wants to provide more artistic exhibits at the museum in the future.
