Folsom's Honeywell plant will close by Jan. 31.

After more than 20 years, the Honeywell facility in Folsom is shutting down.

James Green, a Honeywell business communications leader, said that employees were notified of the closure on Nov. 4. The plant, located at 625 Coolidge Drive, manufactures civil and military avionics and aerospace products.

“Twenty eight employees are being affected by this,” Green told the Telegraph during a phone interview. He added that eligible employees would receive severance and outplacement assistance “in accordance with the Honeywell severance plan.”

Five employees will be transferred to a Sacramento office.

In a press statement, Honeywell said that it regularly evaluates “operations to simplify processes and increase competitiveness to better meet the needs of customers. Our decision to transition work from our Folsom location will help us achieve greater efficiencies and growth for the business over the long term.”

Green said that functions normally performed by the Folsom facility would be transitioned to other Honeywell facilities located in New York, India and China.

The Folsom site will be shutdown on or about Jan. 31 of next year, the statement said.

Founded in 1906 and based out of Morristown, New Jersey, Honeywell is a major conglomerate, producing a wide number of consumer products, engineering services and aerospace systems. It’s famous for its line of home thermostats and automotive products sold under the brands of Prestone, Fram and Autolite.

The local Honeywell office could not be reached for comment.

the "folsom site" of honeywell corporation does not, as noted in the article, 'manufactures civil and military avionics and aerospace products". the folsom site is not a factory - it does not manufacture producta - it is a research and development site of ‘security system’ (for homes/businesses) products. the manufacturing of these security system products takes place at their factories in mexico and china.
