Blaming banks for industry’s black eye
Ask Miki

So, is it because they think everyone will assume, as they do, that Alexis Moore is scarfing shrooms, or is it because Ms. Moore’s allegations are correct?

Predictably, no one from the El Dorado County Association of Realtors, Placer County Association of Realtors, the Sacramento Association of Realtors or the Department of Real Estate responded to her commentary in last week’s column “El Dorado Hills Realtor ashamed of the industry.”

Dear Miki:

I have been in the real estate business for over 30 years, and as of today, I have never had any complaint lodged against myself or my firm.

We have always upheld the highest standards of practice, but it is my current experience that the banks, in general, are operating at the lowest standards of practice possible, just above what might be deemed criminal dealings, in all aspects of their relationships with customers and Realtors.

Their word is no good, their agreements are without merit and their personnel are ill trained and irresponsible. And their attorneys are just mills that are sleazy to say the least, with no way to contact them or believe in anything they tell you!

What has this done to our industry and our ethical practices established over many, many years? We, as Realtors, are losing credibility at the hands of the banking industry’s unethical procedures and practices. It’s no wonder they are in such problems when you see decisions made by management and watch the behavior of upper level individuals. It’s downright underhanded and deplorable.

I have been communicating directly with the U. S. Congressional Oversight Panel (created October 3, 2008 to review the current state of financial markets and the regulatory system) showing them first hand how the daily actions affect the operation of the housing industry.

The banks need to be re-regulated or replaced with a trustworthy system responding to their clients’ needs and the proper means to affect the reliable footing that one expects when dealing with a financial advisor and a credit manager. Presently, banks appear to replicate “mob control” or “loan shark operations” without any value or consideration of their clients’ needs or future aspirations.

What happened to the concept of friendship driving the relationship over many years and cementing an honorable belief in one another?

Dear Sam,

It died a horrible death. Sorry you missed the obit.

Dear Readers:

Actually, I would love to interview someone in the banking industry willing to go on record, but that might happen only when peas grow as big as pumpkins and cornstalks grows so high, you have to cut them down to let the moon go by.

From my cursor to yours,

Miki

It must be horrible to be a realtor right now. Banks won't lend, homes are either in foreclosure or listed as a short sale, and none of us knows what the hell to do! I blame those at the top. Under Bush, this economy started to go South, but under Obama, it's going north, south, east, west and every which way but legal. I don't know what Mr. Obama is doing, but he sure has messed up so many things and yet continues on with his socialist ideas which are scaring me to death! I want my country back --and Mr. Obama needs to be impeached! Then all problems will be solved. SM

Response to Josheel:

Dear SM:

Thanks for your opinion, although many would disagree with you. Whatever the solution is, it better get here pronto.

From my cursor to yours,

Miki
